These terms cover the Kid Safe Spots website and Android apps. By using them you agree to the points below.

Private by design

Locations are encrypted on the child's phone before they leave it. The keys that unlock them are created in your browser and on the phone, are never stored readable on our servers and are never emailed.
We keep only unreadable location data, so the website's administrators cannot see where a device is.
There is no key recovery. If the keys are lost everywhere, the phone must be paired again and older history cannot be unlocked.
Unlocking happens in your browser using code from our website. We designed the system so we cannot read your data, but it has not yet been independently audited.

Reads the phone's location (satellites, Wi-Fi, mobile networks and other sensors) and sends it, with the battery level and the time, to kidsafespots.com so the people you chose can see where the phone is.
It works only after scanning a pairing QR code created on this website, and sends only after "Start sending location" is pressed. It stops when sending is stopped or the pairing is removed.
While sending, it runs in the background and shows a persistent notification. Location access "all the time" is required.
The app has no ads and no analytics.

Encrypted location packets, battery level, timestamps, a device identifier and the device name.
Your account email, and the list of people following each device.
Positions are deleted automatically after 24 hours.
People can see a device only if its owner invited them with an invite link. Removing a follower stops their access to future locations.

This is NOT an emergency, safety or tracking guarantee service. Do not rely on it in life-critical situations. In an emergency, call local emergency services.
Locations can be inaccurate, delayed or missing. Wi-Fi and cell-tower positioning can be off by hundreds of metres or more, and the phone may have no signal, no data or a low battery.
Android or the phone maker may stop background apps. If location is off, permissions are revoked, the app is force-stopped, the phone is off or offline, nothing is sent.
The service is provided "as is", without warranties, to the extent permitted by law. The owner is not liable for loss or harm resulting from its use or from inaccurate or unavailable location data.

Use the app only on a phone you own, where its user has given informed consent, or where you are the legal guardian of a minor and the law permits it.
Secretly tracking another adult is illegal in many places. Tell the phone's user that their location is being shared.
Do not use the service for stalking, harassment or any unlawful purpose. Follow all laws that apply to you.
Be careful who you invite: anyone you invite can see the device's location.

On the phone you can stop sending or remove the pairing at any time; removing it deletes the keys and unsent locations from the phone.
On My devices you can delete a device and remove followers at any time.
